The Perfect DIY Manicure
Lately I find myself with no time to get to the Salon so rather than leave yourself go just DIY it!
Step 1 Remove any old nail varnish with non acetone nail polish remover. I use the Sally Hansen one its only €3.25 and it won’t dry out your nails.
Step 2 File your nails to the shape you want them. Personally I love the stiletto shape but if your nails aren’t long enough try oval. Remember to always file in the same direction to avoid splitting.
Step 3 – Soak your hands in warm water with a drop of one of your favourite essential oils. This will soften your cuticle for the next step.
Step 4 – Dry off your hands and massage some cuticle oil into them sometimes if I run out I use my hair serum it works just as well.
Step 5 – Gentle push back your cuticles.
Step 6 – While you are watching the tv massage your hands with a good hand cream. I love the Aldi Hand cream or Vaseline Intensive Rescue Hand Cream its only €4.49
Step 7 – Apply a clear base coat so your nails don’t stain with your nail polish. I use OPI start to finish. It’s a two in one base coat and topcoat.
Step 8 – Apply your favourite shade of nail polish starting at your cuticles. Apply it in 3 quick strokes one straight up the middle and at both sides. Wait for it to dry and repeat a second coat and a third if needed. Remember keep the layers thin for the Salon look.
Step 9 – Finally apply your OPI Top coat to set avoid using quick dry top coats they will only end up chipping your polish.
Save money Ladies DIY it!
